Tom F Grade 11, class of 2008 has been poking around with the controller

http://tomfcad.pbwiki.com/Make

Here are a few things he has found:

You reset it by jumping the two pins labelled reset. This clears all the memory including the firmware.

After that, you can reinstall the heavy.bin file -

The links on the Makingthings.com resources page are good for downloads and stuff - http://www.makingthings.com/resources/downloads

You can control the 4 leds with a line of code. He turned them all on and off one at a time. After he left for track practice, I poked around with it and repeated some of the stuff he did. I got the leds to turn on, but when I pulled the usb cable, it seemed to lose the programming, then I had to turn them on again.

He showed that it can be its own web server, had its own ip address and all. Not sure how we will use that. Interesting. Here is the info on network contact with the controller The default ip address is 192.168.0.200 It has to have power through at least the usb for it to work. Here is the page on the settings for windows - windows settings for controller

After he went home I looked around and found some more stuff. There is some documentation on using a servo. I grabbed one and threw it in the box to try.

There is a sourceforge makingthings page - https://sourceforge.net/projects/makingthings

Sourceforge has a forum, but it is not active.

Sourceforge also has a place for documentation, but it's empty.

Makingthings has some basic tutorial stuff. The one on the servo looks pretty simple. http://www.makingthings.com/resources/how-to/servo-motor

The downloads on the schematics page of makingthings included a sketchup model of the controller - http://www.makingthings.com/resources/schematics
