Vibrobot

The Vibrobot is a simple way to get started with working with electricity, circuits, motors and more.

Below is information on how to make a very simple Vibrobot.

Materials

Battery holder and batteries

DC Motor

Weight for the motor -  a short segment of hot melt glue stick works well

Conductors/wires

Mint tin, box, soup container, or other item to serve as the body.

Springs, rubber feet, toothpicks, coat hanger, straws, or other items to serve as the legs.

Tape, zip ties or other connectors

Tools

Scissors

Wire cutters

Pliers

Process

Connect the batteries to the motor

You should be able to see the motor turn

Disconnect the motor

Poke the glue stick onto the shaft of the motor

Connect the motor

The motor will wobble with the weight

This the setup for a pager motor or the vibrate signal on your cell phone.

Disconnect the motor

Secure the motor and battery to the body of the vibrobot with tape or zip tie.

Attach the legs to the body. The legs should be long enough to let the glue stick swing all the way around.

When you run the motor now, the vibrobot should scoot around in a circle.

There are lots of ways you can improve on this idea.
